Turning Pain into Purpose
Yako mi is "I'm okay" backwards because these designs are made for the person wearing them. This collection is not a fashion statement; It was designed to help redirect negative thoughts into positive ones when you look in the mirror. In 2019, my depression was so bad, I lost my "will" to live, until one day I cried so hard to the point that all I wanted to be was "okay". I wrote the phrase on my wall, and that was the beginning of my journey to help pull myself out of despair. I created this collection for my own need to feel better and in the process, it began to help the people I love as well. Now, after nearly five years of personally benefiting from these designs, I’ve decided to release my collection to the public in the hopes of helping others to breathe through life challenges so they too can know that they're okay.
It's so simple. Yet so POWERFUL! You have no idea the power those two words hold, until you've looked yourself in the mirror and said "I'm okay". Because in that moment, a spark emerges from the pit of your soul, pressure begins to lift from your chest, and something magnificent awakens inside of you. A glimpse of a happier version of yourself that seemed like a distant memory, now seems like it's within reach. A shirt won’t change the world, but maybe it can help you make it through the day.
When everything is going right, and we’re feeling like our normal happy selves, we have a long list of wonderful aspirations. But when our energy is low, during that moment all we aspire to be is “okay”. Every day is an opportunity to push through whatever you’re going through and to discover the power of positive self-talk in order to give your mind, body, and spirit the boost it needs when times get rough. You’re not alone when you have a wealth of inner strength buried inside of you that’s just waiting for you to tap into it. You are strong and powerful beyond your current belief. Just imagine what you can accomplish when you shift your focus to positive aspects and qualities that you tend to forget you even possess.
When there’s no positivity around you, sometimes you gotta pull it from within. It’s okay to be a masculine individual and be your own cheerleader and coach at the same time. Whether you’re fighting depression, struggling with the overwhelming expectations of society, or just having a rough day, people on the outside may not understand, but the only thing that matters is that YOU understand. This shirt is fashionable, but it is not a fashion statement; it is designed to help you find the STRENGTH that lives deep inside of you.
It doesn’t matter how the outside world perceives you; what matters is how you perceive YOU. You have the power to change your life’s narrative and transform it into a story of hope, endurance, and strength, and it all starts from within. Life will always have twists and turns, so having the ability to roll with the punches will give you the advantage you need to survive one day after another.
How others see you is not your concern. How you see yourself is all that matters. When you look in the mirror, you should feel a sense of relief and confidence. A wise man once said, “don’t allow other people’s opinions of you become your reality.” Because no matter what anyone says, a the end of the day, you are okay.
Sometimes we are our own worst enemy because we do not know the phenomenal abilities we have yet to discover within ourselves. We stress and worry about the wrong stuff. We tend to give our precious energy and valuable time to frivolous things that lower your vibration. But no matter what anyone says or does, you must be able to look yourself in the mirror and say, “I’m here and I’m okay.” A t-shirt may not change the world, but maybe it can help you feel better during a time when all you got is YOU.
As humans, we strive for greatness. Some, more than others. But in different ways. We have different mindsets, beliefs, and will power. The one thing that we all have in common is pain. We all feel that shit. Society has brainwashed us in believing that it's not cool to openly express our most vulnerable feelings. We are conditioned to keep things like depression, social anxiety, and mental disorders on the hush, because it, quote on quote, brings the mood down. But guess what...it's real. It exist. And people secretly live with it every day and lives are being lost because people feel like they can't talk about it. A simple phrase can mean so many things to so many people. I'm Okay. Are you?
There are so many of us suffering behind closed doors, because we feel as if no one will understand. But there's comfort behind expressing yourself because sharing your story could not only be therapuetic for you, but it could mean inspiration and a sign of hope for someone else. How can we heal, if we wish not to speak about the things that are hindering us from truly being okay.
You don't have to be a gamer to draw inspiration from this shirt. Anyone who wishes to take control of his or her own lives, have the ability to do so with the power of possiblities. No matter how many times you feel like you've failed, you have the ability to start over and try again. You only get better with time and experience, so don't think of it as defeat; think of it as a chance to discover alternative outcomes.
We all have some amazing dreams tucked inside our minds that seem somewhat unattainable. But the problem isn’t our lack of resources…It’s our lack of self believe. We spend more time believing in people we don’t even know; we forget to believe in our own abilities to achieve greatness. When in reality, we have the ability to soar higher than the things that excite us on tv, if we learn to pull our strength from within.
